Prostate Disease Prevention

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

The best way to avoid prostate disease is to practice good prevention techniques. If you have a family history of the disease or prostate cancer, start working on prevention early. There are a few things you can do right at home to help avoid this disease or lessen the effects if you have it already.

A clean healthy lifestyle is the number-one factor in prostate disease prevention. Quit smoking, avoid chemicals, drink only filtered water and processed foods. Curb your intake of red meat as this has been indicated as a risk factor for prostate cancer. Reduce intake of caffeine, dairy products and junk foods. And increase intake of foods with Omega-3 fatty acids such as Salmon, flax seeds and cold-pressed oils.

With an ounce of prevention, prostate disease does not have to be a part of your life. Get yearly checks, educate yourself on prostate health and eat healthy.
